Includes three pieces of ephemera laid in, including: A Poem for Benzedrine by John Wieners, a facsimile letter by Haselwood, and a facsimile verifax work by Wallace Berman for Jack Hirschman.

An in depth history of Dave Haselwood's activity as a letterpress printer & publisher beginning with the Auerhahn Press in the Bay Area during the 1950s, and chronicling his later imprint Dave Haselwood Books. Includes many details from books and ephemera reproduced in facsimile. Auerhahn published books by Philip Lamantia, Michael McClure, John Wieners, Lew Welch, Phil Whalen, David Meltzer, Diane di Prima and William Burroughs. Over 40 books are describe, as well as broadsides, ephemera, and jobwork done by the press. A beautiful book printed letterpress by Alastair Johnston, and an unconventional bibliography done in the spirit of the content. An uncommon book on all levels. Highly recommended.
