This book collects 100 poems written by Neruda as a poetic autobiography from the vantage point of Isle Negra, the small village on the Pacific coast of Chile which he came to regard as the center of his world. Subject matter moves through childhood impressions and awakenings, early loves and travels, the dawning of political awareness, towards self-scrutiny and self-definition and so forth. Dust jacket design by Antonio Frasconi.
