First Printing, 1985. 165 pages.
Book measures 8 x 11.5 inches. Edited by John & Rosalind Randle. Fifth issue of this incredible annual by the Whittington Press. Softcover in thick letterpress printed French-fold wrappers. Contains contributions from Hans Schmoller, David McKitterick, John Dreyfuss, Enid Marx, Sebastian Carter, Brooke Crutchely, John Randle, John Ryder, Roderick Cave among many others. The entire edition is printed letterpress in Monotype Caslon, and includes color plates and half tone images throughout the text.
Wrappers show light wear, and the spine is slightly concave with faint creases (earlier issues of Matrix have the dust jacket glued to the spine unlike dust jackets on later copies). Binding is solid. Overall a Very Good copy of an early issue of the periodical which are more uncommon than later issues.
