Miyako Ishiuchi: Sweet Home Yokosuka 1976–1980
First Edition, 2010. 180 pages.
Book measures 11.25 x 9.5 inches. Soft cover with partial wrap-around dust jacket to front cover housed in cardboard slipcase. Limited to an edition of 1000 copies. SIGNED by Miyako Ishiuchi on front endpaper. Sweet Home Yokosuka 1976–1980 revisits Miyako Ishiuchi’s three early works Apartment (1978), Yokosuka Story (1979) and Endless Nights (1981). Together the photographs manifest a personal document primarily of her hometown Yokosuka, a place of compromised identity, accommodating two large American Naval bases since the late 1940s. Includes over 200 tri-tone photographs and a short bilingual text by contemporary Japanese writer and filmmaker Miwa Nishikawa.
