This catalogue is the first full scale retrospective of the photographer Nakaji Yasui (1903-1942), presenting a comprehensive view of his work, which coincided with the centennial of his birth and the major exhibition held at the Shibuya Shoto Museum of Art and the Nagoya City Art Museum. The book examines all the major styles that had emerged by the 1930s , including pigment prints, reportage, snapshots, solarization, surrealism and more. B&W plates throughout. Essays are in Japanese. The foreword and subtitles to most plates have Japanese and English translation.
