Otl Aicher was one of the most important and influential designers of the post-war era. He gained worldwide fame through the all-encompassing visual design he developed for the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. The pictograms designed for the Games led to the creation of a visual language which is still used today in public spaces the world over. As co-founder, lecturer and rector of the legendary Ulm School of Design, he influenced several generations of international designers. Throughout his life, he fought passionately for a more open, free and democratic society.
