The Journal of John Wieners is to be Called 707 Scott Street for Billie Holiday – Inscribed by Wieners

John Wieners

First Edition, 1996. 128 pages.

Book measures 5 x 7.5 inches. Sun & Moon Classics Series. This journal of John Wieners dates from 1958–59, the years when he was composing The Hotel Wentley Poems. The journal contains versions of some of these poems as well as others that have not been published anywhere. This notebook was given to Lewis Warsh in the early 1970s by Wieners, and some of the poems were published shortly after in The World published out of the Poetry Project at St. Marks Church. Some two decades later, this journal appeared in its entirety in this Sun & Moon Press edition.

Already a scarce book, this copy is inscribed by Wieners on the title page to a noted publisher, and thus very uncommon.

Bottom corner of corner shows some wear and pinpoint indentations. The very bottom edges of the first 2 pages are clipped. Otherwise Very Good in solid binding.
