"A History Based Mainly on Material in the Collection of Joh. Enschedé en Zonen at Haarlem." First published in French in 1908. An English translation with revisions and notes by Harry Carter, with the assistance of Netty Hoeflake. Edited by Lotte Hellinga. Designed by Bram de Does. Composed by hand in Romanée, and printed letterpress in a hand numbered edition of 1500 (this copy being no. 800). 

Printed on occasion of the 275th anniversary of the Enschedé typefoundry. An indispensable type specimen book displaying the vast holdings of Enschedé, with historical context throughout. This book is impeccably printed.

Book is in Near Fine condition showing light wear to spine which includes light rubbing at top edge, minor rubbing, and one faint spot. Boards are clean and bright, Binding is solid and completely intact. A very nice copy of this scarce book.
