Typographische Variationen (Typographic Variations)

Typographische Variationen (Typographic Variations)

Hermann Zapf

First Edition, 1963.

Book measures 8.5 x 12.25 inches. Paper-covered boards with gilt lettered leather spine label. No dust jacket as issued. Published in an edition of 500 copies in this binding, along with an additional 500 copies in half vellum. A selection of 78 text and title pages designed by Zapf. Many of the examples in this volume are from actual books designed by Zapf over the prior couple of decades, and some are typographical exercises by Zapf specifically for this publication. Cast entirely from Stempel typefaces (many of which are Zapf designs) including Palatino, Michelangelo, Virtuosa, Sistina, Optima, Melior, Janson, and others. A truly inspiring book and excellent Stempel type specimen as well.

Boards shows light rubbing and a touch of sun fading to spine, which slightly carries over to edges of boards. Binding is tight and completely intact. Interior contents are clean and bright. Very Good+ condition.
